All Monster members are experienced Capital District and regional music veterans, coming together with one goal " to deliver the goods“ with a great live show and to keep people coming back for more! Deep musicianship, multi-vocals along with the great selling point and secret weapon in lead vocalist Michaele Ann Flynn, build a solid foundation for a Monster house of good times and great music!!!
Hi ya! I'm Michaele Ann (aka - Mike) and I have been a long time rocker in the upstate capital area. Fronting several original and cover bands performing from Albany, N.Y. and it's surrounding cities including Massachusettes, Boston, Syracuse, and New York City. The band I have been noted for is "Tokyo Rose" also known as "Shovelhead." This original band of 9 years had an "Evanescence/Pantera" feel. With Shovelhead in the past, I took a short break. Needing to get back to performing, I opted to build a band complete with some of the most established and well rounded players in the area. Creating one of the best Pop/Rock cover bands in the area. "Mike (ME)... and the Monsters" are rockin everyone with the newest, hottest covers, and the best classic's! See you at the next show!! Peace & Love!!! Mike!!! (BTW - YES..Mike is my real name!)
Capital area bassist for over 20 years with bands Ruthless, Tazmanian Metal, Tantrum, Rock Bottom, LOKI, and Bad Karma. John sets down the “bottom end” of the rhythm section which is a key element in reproducing the tunes audiences expect in a “high end” cover/party band. His playing tends to lean more towards the aggressive, but can tone it down when necessary. John is endorsed by Dean Guitars and is featured on their website. His influences come from Gene Simmons, Billy Sheehan, Paul McCartney, and Steve Harris.
David a New York City native is a long-time Capitol land favorite and musical survivor. Having worn many musical hats throughout his career, guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, band leader, band member and all around musical bon vivant, David partners in with the exciting Mike and the Monsters project. Looking forward to making some noise and adding his distinctive guitar work and vocal ability to the Monster mix. As lead guitarist, lead singer and songwriter for national, international and regional known groups Blacksmith, Freaknation and Bad Karma. David brings many years of experience to the stage. Touring and promotions throughout the U.S. and abroad, along with a number of CD / Record releases in America and Europe over the past 15 years prove his professionalism and dedication to music and performing. Smith is a Dean Guitar endorsee (featured on the Dean website). A number of David's original songs have appeared in several Fox syndicated T.V. shows. Smith's fiery and imaginative guitar work, along with his powerful lead vocals and stage presence lay down an exciting framework and contribute to Mike and the Monsters sound, vibe and experience!
Jimmy started playing in 1992. His introduction to the drums was by a complete twist of fate. A visit to a friend’s house revealed a drum kit. Jim was offered the chance to try them out and took it. Immediately he took to the instrument and was playing songs in minutes. After that day, Jimmy's passion for percussion grew. He soon got his own kit and started learning. His influences are vast but include Tommy Lee, Vinnie Paul, Lars Ulrich, all Megadeth drummers and many more. He has played in numerous bands in the Upstate region including, Bad Karma with Mike and the Monsters band mates David Smith and John Dodge, Tribal Soul, Strange Theory, Forgotten, and Requiem Mass. While his background is mostly in the more fast paced metal music, he has played in more subtle rock bands and has played most styles of music. His experiences and ability to play many different types of music has earned him the name "Styles".
Now deep in the Mike and the Monsters mix, Jimmy is ready to hit it hard and bring home the thunder!
